  • Colorado allows the largest systems in the country: up to 1,920 W, against 1,200 W in most states.
  • Your utility can’t block a qualifying plug-in device.
  • Landlord and HOA protections start on January 1, 2027.

What that means right now

The utility part applies now. If you rent or live under an HOA, the protections arrive on January 1, 2027.

Month by month (800 W, south railing)

A panel hanging straight up does best when the sun is low, so winter months hold up better than you’d expect.

Colorado gets a lot of sun, but its power price is below the national average. A bigger kit only helps if your home uses that power while the sun is up.
